Coolenberg Day Surgery
Part of Ramsay Health Care

Your Admission Process

BEFORE YOUR ADMISSION

Once we have received your Consent for Treatment form, our Pre-admission nurse will ring you to discuss your procedure and expectations relating to discharge and post discharge care.  A hospital representative will also call to confirm our admission date, time and fasting details prior to your admission.

If you are having sedation or a general anaesthetic, you are required to have a responsible carer organised to look after you for the first 24 hours after your operation.

Patients who have private health fund cover

If you are with a private health fund, please call them to confirm your level of cover and to see if there is an excess or co-payment payable on your policy for your admission.

Our Health Fund Officer will also do a Health Fund Check to ensure that you are covered for your upcoming procedure and we will confirm any amounts payable.  If you have any monies payable to the Day surgery we will call and let you know prior to your admission.

Patients who are eligible veterans & war widows / widowers

We have a special contractual arrangement with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to provide services to eligible veterans and war widows / widowers (ie Gold Card and eligible White Card holders).

Patients who are self funding

If you are a self funding patient we will provide you with a Patient Estimate of Expenses / Financial Consent form with details in relation to accommodation, theatre, prosthesis & disposable costs relevant to your procedure.  A hospital representative will call you and let you know the cost of this estimate prior to your admission.  Please note that this is an estimate only and there may be some additional costs that we are not aware of prior to your admission.
